June 2025 - Adult Critical Care Unit Patient and Relative Support Services Grant

Polly Fitch Consultant Psychologist Patient and Relative Support Services Adult Critical Care Unit applied for funding for books and paper. Every year about 250 patients die on ACCU many of whom are parents and grandparents and Polly and Valenta Muparadzi, Family Support Nurse work with their families at the time of bereavement. Being able to support individual discussions with good quality resources that can be a helpful guide to difficult conversations at the time of their loved one’s dying is invaluable. Polly and Valenta also support famines making handprints to start the grieving process which many families find very helpful.

Polly applied to Friends for a grant to support the purchase of appropriate books and paper for handprints which have now been purchased and delivered to the unit.
